Physiotherapy in Brampton
Evidence-based hands-on assessment and treatment by Registered Physiotherapists for musculoskeletal, neurological, and post-surgical conditions. Clinical approach developed by a physiotherapist with FCAMPT designation.

About This Service
Physiotherapy at Platinum Physiotherapy is delivered by Registered Physiotherapists in good standing with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario (CPO). Every clinician holds a Master's degree (or equivalent entry-to-practice degree), has passed the Physiotherapy Competency Examination, and maintains annual continuing professional development. Our clinical approach was developed by a physiotherapist with FCAMPT designation — an advanced post-graduate manual therapy credential held by a small minority of Canadian physiotherapists.
Our practice is evidence-based and hands-on. Every appointment takes place in a fully private treatment room, one-on-one with your physiotherapist - no being passed off to an assistant, no shared gym-floor model. Treatment integrates manual therapy (Maitland, Mulligan, HVLA manipulation where clinically indicated), progressive therapeutic exercise, medical acupuncture and dry needling (AFCI and McMaster certified), electrotherapy and ultrasound modalities, spinal decompression, radial shockwave for chronic tendinopathies, Class IV laser photobiomodulation, vestibular rehabilitation, and concussion rehabilitation.
We treat back and neck pain, sciatica and radiculopathy, herniated and bulging discs, sports injuries, tendinopathies, post-surgical rehabilitation (ACL, meniscus, rotator cuff, total knee and hip replacement, lumbar microdiscectomy and fusion), pelvic floor dysfunction (Level 3 certified), vestibular conditions and BPPV, concussion, TMJ dysfunction, repetitive strain injuries, and the full range of motor vehicle accident (MVA) and WSIB workplace injury presentations. Direct billing to Sun Life, Manulife, Canada Life, Green Shield, Blue Cross, Desjardins, Equitable Life, and most major Canadian insurers, plus WSIB and MVA auto-insurer direct billing under Ontario's SABS.
When Should You Get This Treatment?
- Acute pain or injury - sprains, strains, ligament tears, acute back or neck pain, overuse and repetitive strain injuries. Evidence-based early rehabilitation cuts recovery time and reduces risk of chronicity.
- Chronic or recurrent musculoskeletal pain - back pain, neck pain, headaches, hip and knee pain, shoulder pain lasting more than 3 months. The 2021 Lancet Low Back Pain series and 2023 BMJ rapid recommendations endorse physiotherapy over medication or injection as first-line care for most chronic mechanical pain.
- Post-surgical rehabilitation - after any orthopaedic surgery (knee, hip, shoulder, spine, ankle). We follow your surgeon's specific protocols and coordinate with William Osler Health System, Trillium Health Partners, Humber River, Sunnybrook, and other GTA surgical centres.
- Motor vehicle accident (MVA) injury - whiplash, back injury, concussion, soft-tissue pain from an auto collision. Fully covered under Ontario SABS; we bill your auto insurer directly.
- WSIB-approved workplace injury - all required forms completed in-house and coordinated with your employer and case manager.
- Pelvic floor dysfunction - urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, pregnancy-related pelvic girdle pain, postpartum recovery, dyspareunia. Level 3 Pelvic Health certified physiotherapy in fully private rooms.
- Vestibular disorders and concussion - BPPV (Epley/Semont), vestibular hypofunction, post-concussion vestibular, ocular, cervical, and autonomic dysfunction. Buffalo Concussion Treadmill Testing and VOMS used for sub-type classification.
- Senior physiotherapy - fall prevention, balance retraining, osteoarthritis management, Parkinson's mobility, post-stroke recovery.
- Sport and performance rehabilitation - graded return-to-play protocols using CASEM five-stage model, performance-based discharge criteria (Y-balance, LEFS, single-leg hop battery).
What to Expect
First visit (45-60 minutes): structured subjective history using SIN/SINSS frameworks (severity, irritability, nature), red-flag and yellow-flag screening, condition-specific outcome measures (Oswestry, NDI, DASH, LEFS, NPRS), full physical examination (posture, range of motion, strength, neurological screen, special tests such as Hawkins-Kennedy, Spurling, SLR/Slump, Thessaly, McMurray, Thomas, Ober, Trendelenburg, etc.), clinical reasoning and working diagnosis delivered in plain language, informed consent, first treatment, and 2-4 targeted home exercises with photograph or video handouts.
Follow-up visits (30-45 minutes): re-assessment of progress against baseline outcome measures, progression of manual therapy techniques, advancement of the exercise program, modality and adjunct treatment as indicated (acupuncture, dry needling, shockwave, laser, decompression), and re-calibration of the home program.
Expected outcomes: we share published response rates transparently at the first visit. Acute mechanical low back pain - 70-80% resolve within 4-6 weeks. Chronic back pain - 30-50% pain reduction and 40-60% function improvement over 10-12 weeks. Rotator cuff tendinopathy without full-thickness tear - 70-75% improve to functional levels with 12 weeks of structured rehab (Kuhn MOON 2013). Knee osteoarthritis - 32% average pain reduction with 6-8 week GLA:D program (GLA:D Canada registry). Post-ACL reconstruction - protocol-driven rehab to 9-12 months reduces re-rupture 51% versus time-based clearance (Grindem 2016 BJSM).
Direct billing: Sun Life, Manulife, Canada Life, Green Shield, Blue Cross (Canassurance, Medavie, Pacific), Desjardins, Equitable Life, Industrial Alliance, SSQ, ClaimSecure, Johnson Inc., GroupHEALTH, Chambers, GMS, Beneva, plus WSIB and MVA.
